August 24, 2015

I had a very spiritually strong experience this week. I was a little unmotivated at the end of the training with the new missionaries. I had a pretty sad thought come to mind listening to the testimonies along the lines of, everything is the same... every body says "I know that the church is true, I know Jesus lives etc." And I was there thinking, how do they really know, what is it that makes us say the same stuff all the time, is it just because its what we always hear? I left with this doubt, I never lost the motivation to work, but I did have this small aching. Later that day, we found our selves with a young man from our ward who had recently had an argument with his mom, she had ended up slapping him and he was a little depressed and confused. We found out that it was because he was having some problems with his girlfriend and lots of stuff going on. We understood the point of view from the mom and saw the need to help the young man. We sat down with him out front of his house and taught him a little bit of For the Strength of Youth, we expressed the love that God has for him and that his mom has for him. More than anything how he could be able to repent and humble him self to realize the worry his mom has for him. We felt the spirit really touch his heart, and afterwards, when we saw him and his mom hugging and crying, I received the answer I needed. Its true, the Gospel is and always will be the same... but it is EXACTLY what these people need in their lives. Its exactly what everyone needs in their lives! A lot of the time we can lose the value of something so amazing because we are just so used to it, but seeing the way that it really was able to change a family like that, made me remember so many other amazing experiences, and really realize the amazing simplicity. It is so simple. Yet, so beautifully amazing. I now have a renewed and revived testimony, and I know that it is all so true.

So we went to the temple this week with the family Onofre, who I told you about. We were able to reactivate the Mom and her son and her daughter who is now a recent convert. We got to go to the temple with them this week it was so cool! They were able to do some family history and do their work for the dead. It was an awesome experience. Something super cool too is that a couple from Campoy (my first ward) got sealed that same day so I saw so many people from Campoy! It was the best! :) They all told me that they could actually understand me now :)

Two marriages will happen :)  this week, and then N & E on the 6th of sept. Its such a miracle! Two of the 4 couples is great considering how hard it is for the people to get married here in Peru.

Everything is going super well with me and my companion. We have 3 months together, he is now done with his training, we will know the transfers today.

Love you so much! Have an amazing week and keep choosing the right!!

March 2, 2015

I love you so much!!! Haha thats so amazing to hear about that in the ward. I really do love being a missionary and my testimony gets stronger each and everyday, I love the Gospel, I know its true and I know that our Heavenly Father loves us soo much! Keep doing what ever you can to help other people know what we know too, even though some people don't see or choose not to see the love He has for us, as members of the church we can always be a channel for them, through our kind acts and service they can feel just a little bit more of that light and love that they are searching!

This was an amazing week, talking about service haha wow. We went and moved more rocks for that family up in the hillside one day but that was nothing compared to the other stuff we did this week. Almost all of my area is mountains and hills so this week we contacted and helped soo many people carry stuff up the mountain sides. We carried up refrigerators, bags of cement, giant bags of flour, huge 6 packs of 3 liter sodas, boxes of canned milk, this one guy had a concrete sink that maybe weighed more than me haha. 80% of our contacting this week was through helping people carry stuff up the mountain sides to their houses and little stores, and it really is something beautiful. Like this guy with his sink, if we weren't there, there wouldn't have been any way possible to get that thing up by himself, just the little miracles to be in the right place in the right time to be able to help people, and then invite them to come unto Christ, what a great combination right? This week we have 2 baptism scheduled, one is a kid named J who we've been working with since January, he is awesome, he's been coming to church, participating in the activities and everything, he has progressed so much and now is stoked to be baptized this week and really make the change in his life. The other is the boy friend of a girl in our Ward,  they have a baby and they have been together for a long time now but finally this week they are getting married! (you cant be baptized if you're living together, you have to get married or split up), but they are getting married this week and then he will be baptized Saturday during the same program as J!
We were teaching him the steps of repentance how you recognized that you have sinned, confess to God, never do it again, and do everything you can to correct it. So we explained that breaking the law of chastity was a sin, but now that he is getting married they are completing the steps of repentance and they are going to be a beautiful family, when we explained that we could feel the spirit so strongly, and its just amazing the things we are able to be a part of.

I love you all so much, I'm so happy for all of my friends and family and for the life that my Father in Heaven has given me, and now for all of these amazing opportunities to share and help others. Have an amazing week!

January 19, 2015

I love you guys! This has been such a cool week! We are teaching so many people,  I would love to tell you about each one individually but we have 25 lessons or more every week and like 20 new investigators! The biggest challenge we have is maintaining all of the people who want to meet with us. There are also lots of other churches here though, one of the funniest things that happened this week, we were visiting an investigator in his house and he was telling us how he really likes the way we teach and how we really care about the people we don't just throw information at them, and right when he was saying that some other church nocked on the door and was like "hey do you want to know the truth!? take this paper and then go to our website" haha.

The work is amazing, my testimony grows every single day. The members are so awesome and I love joking around with all of them, the investigators are asking such cool questions and I am dropping so much doctrine on them and the scriptures are coming to my mind and we are just helping the heck out of these people, (literally) haha. I can really feel the Holy Ghost working through us to touch these peoples hearts and I am really seeing changes in people. We have some really great investigators right now and we have also been reactivating lots of less actives! I am loving every single day its amazing!

Pictures, you wanted to see my bathroom? and its summer here there are lot of puppies and kitties, it was so cute there was a little white puppy and a little white kitty the cat didn't like the dog though haha. Until next week!

December 15, 2014

I still don't know how all of this works (calling Home on Christmas) either! But there is a pre call that is for 5 minutes to let you guys know I'm going to get on Skype so I guess you guys need to get a Skype and we will go from there. Next week I will know for sure.

Our investigator, 70 yrs old, was going to be baptized last Saturday but we decided it would be better if he goes to church one more time. So we went yesterday and he said he feels so good and is more sure about the Church now. In the class he was answering questions, sharing his testimony, and making jokes too haha. He is the best. There are transfers tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'm going to a different area! We will know tonight. All I can say Is I am soo happy to be a Missionary, the world is getting worse and worse everyday. For this we have to be even better, not only as Missionaries but every member of the church. 3 Nephi 12:13-16 first talks about how we are like the salt of the earth, but what good is salt if it doesn't have its flavor. We are Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints but what good are we if we don't practice what we preach, show and live the things that we believe in. It then goes on to say that in reality we are the Light of the world, and with a Light like this you don't hide it, rather shine it from the top of a hill for everyone to see and follow. I know that these things are true and I know that once someone gains this Light of the Gospel they should always be sharing it with others not only through their testimonies but more importantly through their actions. If you aren't getting better... you're getting worse. We need to always remember who we are and what covenants we have made with the Lord. I know these things are true and we have to work harder than ever to guard our faith because these really are the Latter Days. I love you guys so much and I'm so grateful for all you do for me, have an amazing week!

If you havent seen it yet, Christmas.Mormon.Org the beautiful new video by the church.  Its the most wonderful time of the year!!
