August 25, 2014

There are some super cute little kids here in Peru and they all think I'm so different,I mean I guess I am but its so weird to them. Its hilarious. I am having fun here. I don't know if I told you, but me and my Comp opened this new area so we started from scratch with investigators and everything. So its been hard work but I am learning Spanish super fast and understanding almost everything in the lessons and stuff. It takes me a little longer to gather my thoughts and actually talk in Spanish but a lot is coming and I'm so excited for the coming weeks. Our area, and investigators are awesome! My trainer is from Argentina. We are getting along alright, but I'm still struggling to learn the language and all the gospel so somethings are stressful, the language barrier is tough because we aren't able to express how we really feel but its good that I'm learning more patience and also learning stuff to be a better trainer when my time comes. We are having a lot of success though! We have four baptisms scheduled for next month if they keep the commitments. Lessons are fun and the members are awesome!

There a some Elders in the Ward that are RMs and they speak a little English, they're so funny. This one guy is always like "Whats up dude" and he says "What the Shrek" haha.

I'm happy today is Pday and we get to relax. To day as a zone we are playing soccer, and then getting a bunch of Pizza and watching Tangled or Wreck it Ralph.

How is the ward? Have a great week! I love you and miss you!
Love,

Elder Lambson :)

First P-day in Peru

My apartment is awesome! There are 4 of us, me and my companion who is the district leader. And also the zone leaders live there. They are saying I was born into the covenant because of my situation with the DL, ZL's, one of the best houses, and our area is legit!

This is such an awesome place and I'm having tons of fun! My comp is awesome and we can communicate pretty good, he knows a lot of English and I help him with English and he helps me with Spanish. He has been out 6 months I am his 3rd comp. Its winter here so its kind of like our falls and winters. Light jacket but not to cold. I'm speaking a lot of Spanish and learning more and more everyday! The zone leaders that I live with are both white and about the same height as me so when ever we walk around us 4 are giants cause my comp is tall too. The zl's are so funny and we are always having fun in our apartment.

For meals we have a "Pensionista" and its a calling they have here. Its a family and our guy is named Hector and he is hilarious. The driving here is crazy. we've gone in a couple of buses and some "moto taxis" which are little motorcycles with two seats on the back and they are covered up. its cool. The big drink here is called inca cola and its like bubblegum flavored Mtn dew. I thought it would be terrible but its actually pretty good.

The members here are so nice and awesome. Some funny stuff that happened this week, there are dogs and cats everywhere! So I went to pet this super cute dog and it nipped my pinky haha no blood or anything though. When we were contacting we met a young girl, probably our age, and after we shook hands to say bye and she leaned in and almost kissed me on the cheek before I realized what was going on haha it was a close one. My comp was like "you have to watch out for the snakes" (girls). We have about 11 investigators and its super fun, I've been trying to understand as much as possible and I have shared a few things in lessons and bore my testimony but most of the time my comp is teaching and I don't really know whats going on. But yeah I'm loving it here! Its nothing like back home, its crazy and it makes me appreciate the states so much more. But I'm having fun and happy to be here. I love you! Have a great week! Oh yeah we are going shopping today I'm going to get some more durable pants cause all I have are suit pants and also a pull over sweater with out a hood
I will send pics next week! The computers we are using today are slow. Have a great week! I love you!

Elder Lambson and Elder Balderama

We got an email from a generic Peru Lima East email address with this picture and a message saying

"All is well in Peru"

President Boswell called!

Wednesday night at 10pm President Boswell of the Peru, Lima East Mission called me.  He also called Kiels dad, Arden, to let us both know Kiel had arrived in Peru.  President Boswell told me he had 28 new Missionaries arrive today.  He met with each one of them then assigned them to their new Companions. Kiels companion is from Peru and knows the language and the Country.  I asked if Kiel was there at the Mission Home, he said, no he's gone to his apartment.  OHHH, makes me cry, happy, sad & scared tears. I know Kiel is in great hands and am so impressed.  President Boswell met with each of the new Missionaries AND called everyone of their parents (in our case, that was 2 phone calls).  Kiel will be able to email us on Monday his new "Pday",

Phone Call

As far as I know Elder Lambson is in Peru.  He called home Tuesday night and we were able to talk for about 15 minutes.  We put him on speaker and all of us (Dave, Parker, Alex, Michael Sullivan and Kaleen) talked and laughed together.  He said he was SO busy in the MTC.  He didn't have a chance to write in his journal the way he use to at home and he never wrote anyone a hand written letter.  He loved the MTC but is ready to get to Peru.  He loved his Spanish classes, said his teachers were the best!  He learned a lot of spanish and was able to bear his testimony in it.  He got sick once, and apparently so did the rest of the MTC.  There was a horrible flu going around that most Missionaries got.  He left the Mexico Airport at 11:50pm and was scheduled to arrive at 5:30am.  I had hoped he would email me letting me know he's safe and sound but I haven't heard from him yet (Wednesday 7pm).  I guess No News is Good News.
