Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas from Elder Lambson - Here is his Testimony of Jesus Christ

Click on this link to watch his Video.

Email from Monday 12/29/14

My Christmas was great! We had a cool party on pday with the mission so I got to see lots of friends, we decorated sugar cookies, made Christmas cards, and watched the cartoon Grinch while we had pizza. Then we had a really cool devotional with President and one of the counselors from the Temple Presidency. Don't know what happened but the next day I was in bed and the bathroom all day throwing up.

Christmas eve was good, after a cool visit that we had Paneton and Inca cola with some cool return Missionaries in the Ward we went to the room like normal to plan and I opened up my Christmas Jamies that my mom sent haha.

For the actual day of Christmas we woke up normal time 6:30 had breakfast, and then we had a Zone meeting together and we played some games as a zone and ate a nice Christmas lunch together and watched Disney's a Christmas Carol" with Jim Carrey as Scrooge haha that is one of the best Christmas movies. So it was a super fun morning then we went and taught some super cool lessons and we had dinner with a cool family of recent converts.   We ate turkey and shared fun Christmas stories. It was an awesome week!

My area is soo cool!! There are soo many stairs and hills that we go up and down everyday and I'm really loving everyday and the people are so amazing!!

Love you guys and have an amazing New Years!!! Really think about your year and and put great goals that you will work hard to reach! Love you so much!

Elder Lambson :)

December 22, 2014

I got an email from Elder Lambson at 6:47am saying .........

Mom I am going to call you on the phone in about an hour to talk to you about the skype that will be on Thursday Christmas! So be ready and its only for 5 minutes today so don't freak out hahaha.
Love,
Elder Lambson :)

Ok, so I tried NOT to freak out when my cell phone rang and it was my Boy!!! We talked for 5 min and 36 seconds, he is so obedient!! He sounded great and already has an accent, he even said a few Spanish words in place of English while we were talking.

Here's his email update:

I got transferred to a new area and my zone is called central because we are the zone closest to the center of Lima! I love it! This zone is awesome and my new comp is pretty legit! He is from Ecuador! We are running and working out in the mornings and in our area there are lots of hills so we run up the stairs and there are literally some like the ones in Kung Fu Panda haha. My new pension is a super sweet old lady we call her Mamita. She only makes the best foods like all of the favorites that the missionaries like. There are some really cool members here, the meetings on Sunday need a little more organization and I'm going to help fix and improve somethings. My area is 5 times bigger than my old area so there is lots to do! My goal for this transfer is just to make everyone who I come in contact with know that they are loved children of our Heavenly Father, I just want to love the people and make them feel special. I love Spanish and I love talking to people. I stumble every once in a while with words but for the most part I´m basically fluent now. I'm telling jokes with the people, I'm teaching lessons, everything is just going amazing and I'm super happy! I love you so much cant wait to talk to you this Thursday! I'm going to be alright but I hope you don't get to trunky mom haha. Have an amazing week, and Merry Christmas!!

Elder Lambson :)

December 15, 2014

I still don't know how all of this works (calling Home on Christmas) either! But there is a pre call that is for 5 minutes to let you guys know I'm going to get on Skype so I guess you guys need to get a Skype and we will go from there. Next week I will know for sure.

Our investigator, 70 yrs old, was going to be baptized last Saturday but we decided it would be better if he goes to church one more time. So we went yesterday and he said he feels so good and is more sure about the Church now. In the class he was answering questions, sharing his testimony, and making jokes too haha. He is the best. There are transfers tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'm going to a different area! We will know tonight. All I can say Is I am soo happy to be a Missionary, the world is getting worse and worse everyday. For this we have to be even better, not only as Missionaries but every member of the church. 3 Nephi 12:13-16 first talks about how we are like the salt of the earth, but what good is salt if it doesn't have its flavor. We are Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints but what good are we if we don't practice what we preach, show and live the things that we believe in. It then goes on to say that in reality we are the Light of the world, and with a Light like this you don't hide it, rather shine it from the top of a hill for everyone to see and follow. I know that these things are true and I know that once someone gains this Light of the Gospel they should always be sharing it with others not only through their testimonies but more importantly through their actions. If you aren't getting better... you're getting worse. We need to always remember who we are and what covenants we have made with the Lord. I know these things are true and we have to work harder than ever to guard our faith because these really are the Latter Days. I love you guys so much and I'm so grateful for all you do for me, have an amazing week!

If you havent seen it yet, Christmas.Mormon.Org the beautiful new video by the church.  Its the most wonderful time of the year!!

I love you Mom! You are so awesome! Its funny I don' get all the details from Bubbycito haha. I am glad Coach Matua still remembers me. I love the SCHS teachers and all of my coaches that I've had.

I hope Skyler can get back on his feet one day, he may not be doing super well but he sure has changed my life forever by choosing Snow Canyon High School and I am forever grateful for that.

We only watched a little bit of the First Presidency Message because we brought some kids from the ward. I'm probably going to change to a different area next week. Everything is going well, my comp is a punk but we are working alright together haha. The time really does fly! I have been out almost 6 months now what the heck haha. The work is awesome, I am learning soo much. It makes me so happy that you guys are doing good! Who else is leaving on a mission soon?

Love you so much and so happy for you guys! Have a great week!

December 2, 2014

We had interviews with President yesterday and things are going super good. My comp is sweet, he is helping me learning the doctrine of the lessons and scriptures and I'm teaching him how to be a responsible missionary and work hard haha. The transfers really are by revelation and we are both helping each other a ton and we are doing super good together! We have lots of investigators with lots of challenges that we are helping right now and we are just working super hard! We have one baptism planned for the 13th he is almost 70! Hes awesome, super humble. I got your Christmas package! Thank you soo much!! Its so awesome to have the music tell Alex he is the best. My rugby ball, words cant describe haha. And just all the other cool stuff thank you so much! In the next letter you send, could you send me a pic of my football team and our faces (not the butt picture) haha and also I don't have a picture of my Dad! I love you mom!!! I miss you guys, sounds like a lot is going on in our part of the Lords vineyard, keep up the good work!! Happy Thanksgiving last week and Merry Christmas! I still don't know really what all of the traditions are here but its pretty much the same. They copy a lot of stuff that we do in the States so its basically the same! The people love the snowmen and candy canes you sent. I gave them out to members of the ward. The moms love me haha. Are you guys doing family history? And how often are you going to the Temple? Tell Bubby what the flip he didn't write me anything. How is the family? What is new? How are the cousins and how are Courtney, Skyler and Jordan doing? There is a guy in our ward who looks a lot like Jordan haha its funny. How is Alex? Love you guys!! Have a great week! Thanks for everything! I love you! Have a great week!

Preface to Elder Lambson's letter:  Parker played his last game of the season last week and he was the MVP, he had the 2 assists for the only 2 goals and he stopped one goal from going in by heading it. The Goalie had run out of the box and Parker ran in and headed it out.

Hola- WOW!!! Parker is such a stud!!! That is flipping awesome! I love my brothers I'm glad we have a cool family! Wow thats weird to hear that the Ward already had to be switched around again. I'm so happy to hear that everyone else is doing good though! Good luck on the Parade, that's cool! I miss you guys! But yes the work is awesome!! I am learning and growing so much!! I seriously didn't realize how cool the Gospel really is and how true it is, we have all of the evidence, God is Perfect! The Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants are his word! I just wish I had more time to study every morning haha. I hope you guys are studying your scriptures, they really are soo awesome! The Church is true and we are also the coolest church ever, Have you been reading the Liahonnas and watching all of the Mormon messages? Wow they are so good. I am soo happy to hear about all of you guys and that things are going super awesome! I am so happy for all of your support and love! The days are long but the weeks are short! I love my invesigators and I am working hard every day studying to find different things to share to help them, trying to be as obedient as possible, and praying so that the lord will give them the desire to do the things that we have invited them to do. I know this church is true and I am so grateful for all of the blessings that I have seen in my life from it and now all the ways I can help others know it too! We had the privelage this week to listen to a General Authority speak to us his name is Elder Waddell and he said some super awesome stuff! I am pumped as ever to keep working hard to help the people here. I love them and I love you guys, thank you so much for everything. Have an amazing week!

November 17, 2014

Sent Kiel a picture of Parker driving - his reply:

Thats awesome. A little weird that he is driving, but awesome haha. I got 5 more letters this week! And 2 packages! One from Savanah and one from Grandma Lambson. Savanah sent me some candy and a BYU shirt! And I got lots of cookies and chocolate from grandma! Awesome! I love your little letters with the pictures and just whats going on, those are the best. I miss Kate and Sloan haha thats so funny what they do with my pictures. (ASL - I love you).

In our email to Kiel we asked how he was doing with his new Companion?

Yeah my Companion is so awesome!! We are working super good together!! He reminds me of Bubby haha he is little and kind of a spaz so we have fun messing with each other. We have some awesome Investigators! Yesterday we taught the family Rodriguez and after the lesson they took us over their fence to this huge mountain side with ancient ruins! Its funny it was like you yeah you guys wanna see something cool, we just happen to have these ancient ruins in our back yard hahaha. They are doing really good and we hope to baptize them next month on the 13. We are also teaching a family J and L , there is the mom L with her 2 daughters and J is the step dad. J is the one that stopped us one day to teach them because he wants the best for his step daughters, it has been so cool teaching them because I can relate with a lot of the same stuff, with having a step dad. Because the step dad wants the best for the kids but some times the kids are resentant and they have fights and stuff but really its cause the step dad loves the kids and yeah it has just been super cool being able to relate with them and help the kids see this (yeah its super deep and cute but sometimes I am bad at explaining stuff) (tell dave I say hi haha) and this week we taught them the importance of marrige and they are getting married on the 10th! We hope to baptize the family together on the 13th! What is new with C, she is super happy! She started talking to the dad of her kids again and he told her that he wants to change and they have plans to get married. We started teaching them together and he is awesome. He is accepting everything and if things continue good they will get married soon, then he can get baptized too, and then get married in the temple! How cool would that be!? The work is so awesome and I am loving every day! Thank you so much for all of the love and support!!  I miss you all! Im so blessed to have family and friends as awesome as you guys! I love you and miss you have an amazing week!

November 10, 2014

Hi - Haha yeah I know Brother Torgenson (he's the Uncle to one of Parkers soccer teammates) he is awesome! He interviewed me my first day in the MTC we were pretty good friends my whole time there.

That's sad to hear about Britton, typical Snow Canyon tragedy.  We have some amazing students.  I got the letters from the SCHS Missionary moms, pretty cool. I gave Bubby some good scriptures last week to help.

(I told him an RM in our Ward gave Sharing Time in Primary) That's going to be funny when I go back and share stories with the primary kids. I loooove the primary kids here. They are soo cute! Seriously there are some of the cutest little kids here in my ward I love it.

Tell Alex thank you so much for the music! I know he loves me haha. I'm sure Vanessa has a lot of business right now. Margot loved the towels, she is awesome. And Hector, we always play chess with him at his house haha he is addicted! Im winning 4 to 2 with him. Thanks for raising me with chess, I'm a well rounded person. Haven't gotten Kelly and Rachels package, but got Jackmans. Haha I have so many ties now, I need like two tie racks. I got some stuff for you guys to send but it might take a while so yeah.

That is super good dave is actually getting a permit (for the YM Priest bon fire Wednesday night, last time the Fire Dept and Police showed up)  haha.

My new comp is pretty cool! We have been working really well together. I am leading the area, doing all of the responsible stuff like finding people to teach, making sure we have members to go with us, scheduling service and lessons, and then he is teaching the lessons. That's my weak point right now but I have been getting so much better at spanish! I understand literally 97 percent of things and I am able to communicate with people with what ever I want to say.

We had some awesome lessons last night with families and I'm actually telling jokes now and I can say basically what ever I want. I can really feel the help of the spirit every day. Something that happened the other day that was really cool is after a lesson with some investigator this little girl asked me "why are you always so happy?" and it made me think. I don't know, I'm just super happy. I have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, and right now my only job is to help other people have it too, how can I not smile haha. This is the best work in the world and I am a big part in it. I love smiling at random people in the street and seeing them smile back, maybe its because they are thinking "what's up with this crazy gringo" but at least it brings them a smile haha. Not everyone is going to listen to our message but every time we share our testimonies of our Savior it brings a little bit more happiness and hope to these people, every time we talk to someone we are planting a seed, maybe we can harvest the crop and bring them to baptism in our transfer, and maybe they need more time and other missionaries will be able to take advantage of what we have started. All I know is that I love it here and I love the people soo much! I know this is the work of the Lord and I can feel his love for everyone of his children each day I try to fulfill my purpose as a missionary  I love you guys too and I miss you so much! I wish you could meet all of the people here they are amazing! Keep strengthening your testimonies every day! The gospel is awesome, I love you have a great week!

These pics are just before the transfers with Elder Haught and Elder Balderrama and the pensionista family

My new comp is from Iqitos Peru and has 10 months in the mission

November 3, 2014

a preface to Kiels letter with part of my letter to him.....

Happy Halloween - I guess since Halloween is a US tradition, you didn't get to celebrate it.?.
I wore your Superman shirt and big black glasses, Dave dressed up in his Batman costume to hand candy out. We were the Super Hero House. lol

HI - I love you!! That sounds "super" about halloween! Haha. Halloween was pretty weird here. It is like just starting up so there were some kids in the street but most people think it is of satan haha. Definitely not the same as it is in the states.

Thats pretty crazy about the church schedule, wow. What kind of improvements are they doing in the Stake Center? Thanks for the pictures of our Ward plaques, have you read that chapter in Morini (7:45) where mine comes from? Its a lot deeper than just the scripture that I put on there but yeah I love it.

Today are the transfers! I don't know who is my new Comp but I'm staying in Campoy and my Comp is going to be a Zone Leader in a different Zone!! He is a stud. Fast and testimony meeting is awesome! And so is Joseph smith! I love teaching about him!

I got your package this week from Vanessa and I got Grandpas, the mail strike is over!! Thank you so much it is so awesome!!! The american food is sooo good! But the food down here in Peru is amazing too! Just the American Junk food is better haha. But really you guys should try some Peruvian food! My favorite thing right now is called Aji de Gallina, Its soo good! And remember how when I was little I was a "dipper" well yeah here they love sauces too so I get to put sauce on everything!!!

How are you? Any thing new? How is Alex I haven't heard much from him lately. He is going to be married by the time I get back right? Haha tell him I miss him. How is the music coming along? If you dont want to do that its okay. I emailed Coaches, have you seen them lately? How does Bubby like high school? In spanish if something is little you can just add "cito" at the end of it so now I'm going to call him "Bubbycito" aweee. Haha

I miss and love you guys so much! I am seriously so grateful for you all! I don't know how I was so blessed to have you! Love you, have a great week!

Love,

Elder Lambson :)

October 27, 2014

I'm still in Campoy. There are transfers next week though and either me or my Comp will leave. My comp is cool, I'll miss him. I haven't gotten the package you sent with Vanessa yet. Its been awhile since I've gotten mail, the last thing was the jacket (which I love thank you)

About the music, we use these little DVD players to watch PMG videos and scripture videos and we can put thumb drives in and play music with them too. But only church music like EFY and MoTab and other cool LDS stuff.

I had an Idea. After Halloween when all the candy is on sale you could send a bunch to keep in my bag to give to little kids in the street. We always see kids and they are so cute and it would make their day.

That is cool about the (SCHS) football half time, too bad we lost but hey rugby is awesome haha. I want to email coach P and coach Day could you give me their emails?

I hope the Ward is doing good. I wish I would have worked harder when I was still at home, there are so many things that we can do as young men that I wish I would have done. I wasted way to much time on my phone.

Here are some pics of p day a few weeks ago we made huge hot dogs called completos with guacamole, so good. And last week we went to a zoo in central de Lima. It was so cool I saw animals from South America that I didn't even know existed. And also some classics like the Lama.

Other pictures, there's some of me at the zoo, one with my Zone right now, one with "J" who I've told you about, (his shop is doing awesome he is making a bunch of money and he remodeled everything and now has computers and stuff its cool.) The one with the guy with long hair. His name is "M" and he was baptized in like 1980 but was inactive ever since.  We found him a few weeks ago. I gave him that shirt and tie to wear to church because he literally is almost dirt poor and he was so happy to go to church with us wearing it. He has no family, or really many friends, all he does is work (cleaning) and lives in his little shack.

I miss you guys but the mission life is such a blessing in its self, all the miracles I'm seeing in these peoples lives thanks to the gospel. It doesn't matter a persons situation, we are all children of God and we all have access to the gospel, if we accept it. Keep doing the small and simple things to always have the spirit with you!

Getting items to Elder Lambson

You can email Elder Lambson at  kiel.lambson@myldsmail.net

OR

You can mail him a single sheet letter using the Pouch System - The Church provides pouch mail service from your location to Church headquarters, where letters are forwarded to the Missionary by a private courier. Pouch mail leaves SLC each Friday, only postcards or one-page correspondences (no envelopes) written on one side of the page may be sent through the Pouch.
Lay the letter blank side down. Fold the bottom of the letter about one-third of the way up the page and crease. Fold the top and crease. Secure the long side with 2 pieces of tape, but do not seal the ends. Write your name and complete return address in the top left corner. Attach a 1st Class postage stamp in the top rt corner. In the middle, write the Missionary address:

Elder Kiel Lambson
Peru Lima East Mission
POB 30150
Salt Lake City, UT 84130-0150

As far as I know UPS and Fed Ex are still delivering packages but no USPS deliveries are being made per International Mail Services:

Peru
Start date: 16th September 2014
End date: Ongoing

Postal workers in Peru started an indefinite strike on 16th September 2014. This has affected both inbound and outbound mail services.

Update: 2nd October 2014

The strike action in Peru is still ongoing, and the International Mail Hub in Peru, is full to capacity with mail which has not been processed, and subsequently the airline which transports mail in to Peru on our behalf is currently unable to accept any mail in to Peru. As a result mail services to Peru are now suspended and any mail we have on hand in the UK for Peru will be returned to sender.

Packages may be sent via Private Courier:
Put all items in large Zip Lock bags (2 gallon bags are best) with Elder Kiel Lambson - Lima Peru East Mission written on the outside of the bags. Mail or deliver the bags to:
Vanessa
El Inka Envios
1604 S Prospect
Salt Lake City UT 84104

Inside the box you are mailing to Vanessa, put an envelope inside of it addressed to Vanessa. Inside the envelope write a list of everything you are mailing - declare the value, try not to send anything worth more than $50 otherwise it causes issues at Customs. Also put a check in the envelope, it needs to include the deliver fee of $6.00 and then $6.50 per pound. If the contents you are mailing are 4 pounds, her check would total $32.00. She will deliver the packages to the Mission Home. Christmas packages need to be to her no later than November 10th. You can see her info on FaceBook at:
 https://www.facebook.com/pages/El-INKA-Envios/235722439789106?sk=info&ref=page_internal

Thanks for sending the 4 generation chart and thank you so much for all of the help you are seriously the best mom ever!! Have a good week.

Love Elder Lambson

October 13, 2014

The people in my selfie are my pensionista and his family, and Elder Allred, he transferred out though.

This was taken last week on the field on Pday, me Elder Haught, Elder Balderrama, and Elder Gutierrez. We all live together and its the best!

Last Pday was awesome, we played soccer, capture the flag, and ultimate Frisbee. You guys are real latter day saints, doing all of the little things like watching the movies and videos and reading your scriptures and have your callings in the ward, seriously that is amazing! There are so many members of the church that have just kind of faded away here. There is a scripture in Alma 37 : 6 and 7 that says by the smalls things, great things will come to pass. I love that scripture because its so true, and we really do need to always remember that we are latter day saints.

Conference was super awesome! I watched it all in Spanish! Understood a lot but I guess you could say it wasn't as deep haha. But I still loved it and it was awesome that I really did understand most. I love our family so much and all of our awesome friends in the Ward and other places. You and Dave should read the book Our Search For Happiness by Russel M Ballard it is so good and really helps us understand everything about the church and about our lives. Thank you so much for all of the packages and everything! You really are the best mom ever and I am so glad for all of our memories!

October 7, 2014

Super cool you guys are watching Conference and Football!! I check my emails from a little internet place, they are all over the place. Kids are always playing on the internet and they pay 1 sole each hour its like 30 cents American. Sounds cool there is a LDS new movie. That's fun you guys got to watch Conference together. We have some great memories. Thank you for raising us great mom. We are watching General Conference at the Stake Center next Saturday and Sunday as a stake (not everyone has internet in their homes to watch it) so that will be cool. Its cool cause it gives the Investigators (we are inviting four different families) the opportunities to attend ¨church¨.

Everything is going super great! I'm super happy and I'm learning sooo much! I am happy that you guys are happy. Haha I don't really know what else to say.

Today for Pday we are playing capture the flag it should be super cool! The time is flying here, how is it already October haha. I was in high school last year and now I'm out here trying to change peoples lives for the better. Love you! These pics are of part of my area called 28 de julio we have some cool investigators that live up here and almost all that is below is our area. Love you!! Have a great week!!

September 29, 2014

I hate to admit that I (Kaleen, Kiel's mom) have been listening to the following song (for weeks) and crying, but getting Kiel's letter today made "all this" worth it.  Elder Lambson baptized a young mother this past week.  The change the Gospel will make in her life will be forever!  I guess I can handle Two Years without my boy!

Two Years by Carli Barlow
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvaIZ3voOdk

Guess what.... I had my first Baptism this week!!! And we gave JB the Priesthood!! Some of the coolest experiences ever! We baptized a girl who is 20 years old named C and she has a 3 year old and a 6 month old who is the cutest little baby ever and she loves me. Whenever we are in lessons or at Church and the baby (Luana) is crying I look at her and she immediately stops and smiles. We also baptized her little brother A who is 9 and he is the sweetest little 9 year old ever. I baptized C and my comp baptized A. It was soo amazing. I am enjoying it here, it is so awesome.

There were transfers last week and in my Zone, my Comp and I were the only ones that didn't change. And for a great reason. There were some big problems in C's family a few days before we were to baptize them and we were able to help them solve the problems. They are baptized now and it is so awesome the change in there lives. Also we met some new families and other awesome people who want to listen to us this week. I know we both stayed for a reason. One of the Zone Leaders transferred and now we have a new guy in our house Elder Gutierez from Las Vegas. He is super cool!

I love this, it is so fun to meet so many new Missionaries and make friends and the people we meet and teach. I have met so many awesome people! I love you Mom and I miss you guys but I am loving it here too this is so great and I know I'm here for a specific reason.

Elder Lambson answering our questions in our letter:

I got all of your letters that were at the CCM this week and the Jacket! So awesome!!! I love it and all the notes in the pockets and the world map coin.  Thank you so much! Getting letters is one of the coolest things.

The time goes crazy fast. Every day feels like a week but every week feels like a day. I have already been in the field for more time than I was in the CCM. Cool that Kelly and Rachel are at the house, Go Cougs and Utes. Parker's biking thing sounds cool. The Chargers are going to win the Super Bowl the year I'm not home haha.

Church music is the best! You should look up BYU Vocal point. It is sooo good.

October 5th is coming - Happy birthday Dave!!! And happy resurrection Alex!! Happy birthday mom!! 27 right?

The little kids love candies and chocolates! They love all sweets here! Will you send me some that I can give out at Christmas.

Can't wait for General Conference! Its going to be cool, understanding it in two different languages! I love all of our General Conference memories and now it means so much more to me!! Love you and enjoy! Also there are some awesome Mormon messages that are new. Watch the one with D Todd Christofferson and scriptures.

Love you have a great week!
Love,

Elder Lambson :)

September 22, 2014

Hi - I hope that everything is going well in the Ward and with your jobs and school. I miss you and I can't wait to see you all again. The people here are super cool. We don't have any baptisms yet but we are getting good numbers in the church and have investigators progressing. The ward here is super cool and they work well with the missionaries.

That sounds fun that you got to have a crazy moms convention haha (SCHS Class of 2014 Missionary Mommas) hope that is going well.

Did I tell you that some times we listen to Alex Boye? It reminds me of home every Sunday morning haha. It is so weird to think how long that I've been gone, 3 months already. Like I was just barely in NZ and then home for a few weeks now here. I had a great high school run and now I'm here with the people of Peru. Its all so weird to think about. Everything is just a memory, if you think about it, right now you are living in a memory, how weird is that.  Time is one of the weirdest things, seems like it goes faster every year. I will be home before I know it and this will all be a memory. That is why I need to work as hard as I can to bring the people this gospel because it gives our time here worth. We are here to prepare to meet God and every day we learn and progress. I'm so glad for my life and for you guys and for all of my experiences and memories. I dont know just some weird thoughts.

Cool things this week.
-I went to Interpol (I thought Interpol was only in James Bond movies) and I will be a temporary citizen of P pretty soon.
-I can understand almost everything when we are talking with people now. Learning everyday.
-There are 30 different coins to collect here, they have a different one for each region of the country (like the 50 quarters) so its fun when I find those, its hard though, people are really stingy with money like they won't give shiny ones away for change they give you the dirty ones.
-There is a cool mountain region in our area with a bunch of houses up on this hill side and there are some switch backs that reminded me of Hava Su Pai.
-The "snakes" are real haha - Dave knows what I'm talking about
-And one of the most exciting things, I saw a cock fight! Chickens with razors attached to their feet. It was legit.

Any way, I love you guys and I miss you a ton. Spanish is a crazy language and its cool to learn. This gospel is awesome and I'm super happy to be a missionary at this time in my life. You guys are awesome and I hope you are happy. Take advantage of being in America. I love you so much! Choose the right!

September 15, 2014

I need to preface Elder Lambson's letter by saying - I asked him 17 (yes seventeen) questions in my email to him this week. Hey, a Mom's got to have some details.
Here's his reply...

Wow holy questions haha. Okay I will do my best. I still have not received packages from you or grandpa. But I did get one letter from you with the pictures of the kayak.

You don't need to resend the things you sent to the Mexico CCM, I think they will send it with the new Missionaries in a week in the next transfer.

The families that we are teaching are awesome! Some are progressing more than others but its all going in the right direction. No baptisims still but we have rescued 3 or 4 less actives! One of the guys name is JB, he is so cool! He owns a tienda and we got him to stop selling cigarettes and opening up on sundays.

Hermano Hector and his wife Margot are the best, they are our Pensionista. He gives us 3 rolls with cheese and ham every morning for break fast, and Margot cooks an awesome meal every day for lunch (lunch is the main meal here) and it usually consists of rice and some sort of chicken dish with soup too, and then for dinner we usually get this really good yogurt drink with cereal! They have Pensionistas for all of the Missionaries here who cook for us and do our laundry. We go to their house for every meal and visit with them and eat.

The little kids are awesome! There is a little guy named C who is J's nephew and he loves when we teach lessons he always sits next to us and always hugs us and plays with us.

Usually our main means of transportation is walking, with an occasional bus or moto taxi if we feel like it.

The living conditions are very poor. "Poverty" in the United states, is luxuary compared to here. People don't know how good they have it to be blessed enough to live in the United States. It's such a difference in life style.

I'm so happy things are going great for you I hope you're all happy and having fun. I love you and I am so grateful for all of your help and love! Tell Kelly and Rachel and all of my other friends who I don't have the ability to tell right now that I love them and miss them. I'm so grateful for all of my amazing memories because honestly in the end all we have are our memories and the results of the choices we have made.

Thank you so much for raising me as best as you could, you are an amazing mother, I love you so much. Have a great week I will talk to you soon!

Love,

Elder Lambson

September 8, 2014

Hi - Thank you so much for sending the jacket mom you are the best ever. I hope it gets here too. I have light "chompas" (sweaters) that I wear with a long sleeve underneath so it isn't too cold. I haven't gotten any of your letters yet or the photo album. I bet there are some things still sitting at the Mexico MTC until more Elders come to my Mission, probably next transfer. But the other letters should get here soon, it takes about 2 and a half weeks. The other Elders in my casa are Elder Haught and Elder Allred they are the Zone Leaders. They are so funny! Elder Haught might be one of the funniest people I've ever met, he is from Arizona, but I don't know what part. It makes it a lot easier to have them in the house to speak English with and talk about stuff and also they help me a lot with the learning. I'm blessed in my area. This area is awesome. The members are so nice! We only get to eat at members houses once a week on Sunday for lunch. Yesterday this family was saying they wanted me to be at their house for Christmas so they could give me Mountain Dew and Snickers haha.

Its fun being here and serving, we get to do a service project every Thursday and do stuff like help build houses. Last week we got to throw a couch out of a 2nd floor window. I'm beginning to understand a lot more Spanish. Everyday I'm understanding more and I´m able to respond a lot of the time. It is fun having a Zone with all Elders because we get to do more sports. Today we are going to a big grass field to play American football! I'm stoked!

I am staying fit, I work out every morning and I still have abs haha. Most elders say that they're just going to not worry about it and eat what ever until they have 6 months left and then still not do it and go home fat haha. But not me, tell Bubby I'm going to come home ripped haha.

I hope you're all happy. What is family night like with out me there? There are some awesome Mormon Messages you guys should watch. Hope the family is happy. I always like sharing with the families here that the reason I'm a Missionary is because I love my family so much, and I want other families to have that same joy that ours does because of the Gospel.

We had 12 new investigators and inactives at church yesterday! And we have 2 people getting baptized this Saturday! The work is so awesome! And you can do it too! You don't have to be a Missionary to do Missionary work, share this gospel with those who don't have it. Invite people to church with you. I'm so happy for all of the blessings in my life and for my opportunity to share this happiness with others in Lima. I love America and I wish I was there a lot of the time, but I know that I need to be here and being able to see the changes in peoples lives for the better is what makes it worth it!

The church is true. And I love my family. Have a great week :)

September 1, 2014

Hi - Thanks for your emial. I'm glad that everything is going well in the ward. Cool that we got some new people. Hope everything is fun. I love you mom and I hope the family is well.

You should read the book ''Our Search for Happiness" by Russel M Ballard, it is awesome. Also you should read the account written by Oliver Cowdrey at the end of JSH.

I am having an awesome time in Peru and things are getting better every day! P day was awesome last week! We played 4 games of soccer and I had 3 goals! The natives were shocked! A greengo scoring goals, what? I have Bubby to thank for that. He taught me everything I know about soccer.

I gave a talk in sacrament this week, it was only 5 minutes I talked about missionary work. It was all in Spanish and the Ward understood me ,haha so that is a good sign. My testimony is growing everyday in Spanish and also in general! The people here are amazing and I want to help them all to have the light of Christ in their lives!

Today for Pday we are going to a huge market to go shopping. Thank you for everything. I love my family so much!!! And because I love my family I want to help all of these other families to have the same love I do because of this Gospel!!

Love,
Elder Lambson

August 25, 2014

There are some super cute little kids here in Peru and they all think I'm so different,I mean I guess I am but its so weird to them. Its hilarious. I am having fun here. I don't know if I told you, but me and my Comp opened this new area so we started from scratch with investigators and everything. So its been hard work but I am learning Spanish super fast and understanding almost everything in the lessons and stuff. It takes me a little longer to gather my thoughts and actually talk in Spanish but a lot is coming and I'm so excited for the coming weeks. Our area, and investigators are awesome! My trainer is from Argentina. We are getting along alright, but I'm still struggling to learn the language and all the gospel so somethings are stressful, the language barrier is tough because we aren't able to express how we really feel but its good that I'm learning more patience and also learning stuff to be a better trainer when my time comes. We are having a lot of success though! We have four baptisms scheduled for next month if they keep the commitments. Lessons are fun and the members are awesome!

There a some Elders in the Ward that are RMs and they speak a little English, they're so funny. This one guy is always like "Whats up dude" and he says "What the Shrek" haha.

I'm happy today is Pday and we get to relax. To day as a zone we are playing soccer, and then getting a bunch of Pizza and watching Tangled or Wreck it Ralph.

How is the ward? Have a great week! I love you and miss you!
Love,

Elder Lambson :)

First P-day in Peru

My apartment is awesome! There are 4 of us, me and my companion who is the district leader. And also the zone leaders live there. They are saying I was born into the covenant because of my situation with the DL, ZL's, one of the best houses, and our area is legit!

This is such an awesome place and I'm having tons of fun! My comp is awesome and we can communicate pretty good, he knows a lot of English and I help him with English and he helps me with Spanish. He has been out 6 months I am his 3rd comp. Its winter here so its kind of like our falls and winters. Light jacket but not to cold. I'm speaking a lot of Spanish and learning more and more everyday! The zone leaders that I live with are both white and about the same height as me so when ever we walk around us 4 are giants cause my comp is tall too. The zl's are so funny and we are always having fun in our apartment.

For meals we have a "Pensionista" and its a calling they have here. Its a family and our guy is named Hector and he is hilarious. The driving here is crazy. we've gone in a couple of buses and some "moto taxis" which are little motorcycles with two seats on the back and they are covered up. its cool. The big drink here is called inca cola and its like bubblegum flavored Mtn dew. I thought it would be terrible but its actually pretty good.

The members here are so nice and awesome. Some funny stuff that happened this week, there are dogs and cats everywhere! So I went to pet this super cute dog and it nipped my pinky haha no blood or anything though. When we were contacting we met a young girl, probably our age, and after we shook hands to say bye and she leaned in and almost kissed me on the cheek before I realized what was going on haha it was a close one. My comp was like "you have to watch out for the snakes" (girls). We have about 11 investigators and its super fun, I've been trying to understand as much as possible and I have shared a few things in lessons and bore my testimony but most of the time my comp is teaching and I don't really know whats going on. But yeah I'm loving it here! Its nothing like back home, its crazy and it makes me appreciate the states so much more. But I'm having fun and happy to be here. I love you! Have a great week! Oh yeah we are going shopping today I'm going to get some more durable pants cause all I have are suit pants and also a pull over sweater with out a hood
I will send pics next week! The computers we are using today are slow. Have a great week! I love you!

Thanks for everything you are awesome! Here is my official address for mail and packages if you are interested.

Elder Lambson and Elder Balderama

We got an email from a generic Peru Lima East email address with this picture and a message saying

"All is well in Peru"

President Boswell called!

Wednesday night at 10pm President Boswell of the Peru, Lima East Mission called me.  He also called Kiels dad, Arden, to let us both know Kiel had arrived in Peru.  President Boswell told me he had 28 new Missionaries arrive today.  He met with each one of them then assigned them to their new Companions. Kiels companion is from Peru and knows the language and the Country.  I asked if Kiel was there at the Mission Home, he said, no he's gone to his apartment.  OHHH, makes me cry, happy, sad & scared tears. I know Kiel is in great hands and am so impressed.  President Boswell met with each of the new Missionaries AND called everyone of their parents (in our case, that was 2 phone calls).  Kiel will be able to email us on Monday his new "Pday",

Phone Call

As far as I know Elder Lambson is in Peru.  He called home Tuesday night and we were able to talk for about 15 minutes.  We put him on speaker and all of us (Dave, Parker, Alex, Michael Sullivan and Kaleen) talked and laughed together.  He said he was SO busy in the MTC.  He didn't have a chance to write in his journal the way he use to at home and he never wrote anyone a hand written letter.  He loved the MTC but is ready to get to Peru.  He loved his Spanish classes, said his teachers were the best!  He learned a lot of spanish and was able to bear his testimony in it.  He got sick once, and apparently so did the rest of the MTC.  There was a horrible flu going around that most Missionaries got.  He left the Mexico Airport at 11:50pm and was scheduled to arrive at 5:30am.  I had hoped he would email me letting me know he's safe and sound but I haven't heard from him yet (Wednesday 7pm).  I guess No News is Good News.

July 30, 2014

Hi- Thanks for the pic of my room, so I kind of felt bad leaving my room really messy but I know you secretly enjoy cleaning it. So I hope you had fun and it gave you something to do :) haha
Tell Dave thank you so much for feeding my snake! Also tell him I have been playing a lot of volleyball here, and thank you for teaching me everything I know.

II didn't realize how big of a deal tie trading and stuff was but I could use some more ties,  Christmas present maybe ;) also one of my pairs of pants ripped (the ones I’ve had since Sophomore year) but its okay cause an Elder in my district can fix them. But I'm going to buy some new suits when I get to Peru!

The MTC is super fun and awesome, but I'm excited to get into the field because I have a feeling that it will be 10x better! I got a package from Anne this week the Elders in my casa were so mad :) but I shared it was all good. Thank you all!!!!   Count your many blessings! I love you guys so much! Even Alex! Oh and funny story, we had to make a profile to be an investigator for other missionaries to practice on us so I used Jordan as my investigator haha.

Glad you ate at Remunds, Tell Sherri since she forgot a golden word for my farewell she could give me one for my homecoming.

Grandpa sends me quotes each week and the one he sent this week we actually had a devotional on the other day and we watched a video of Elder Holland, he talked about the Preach My Gospel book and told us "notice how it says Preach 'My' Gospel, not your Gospel, the Lord's Gospel" I know this is his Gospel and the true Gospel and I'm so excited to take the things I've learned here out to the real world! I miss and love Grandpa!

So I got the sickness thats going around here the other night and it was super fun! :D I had to sleep on my bathroom floor for a few hours :) even laying on the floor I wasn't discouraged, I was like, wow I feel like crap but seriously is that it, there is no way I'm going to let this get me down. I got about 3 hours of sleep that night but I still went to work the next day at 6.30 learning spanish and the gospel going hard all dang day. I love and miss all of my family and friends but I'm here for a purpose and I'm not coming home till that purpose is fulfilled.

I challenge you and Bubby to share your testimonies this week :)  Oh hey let the Wade's know I met Emily! She is super nice and cool!

Love you talk to you again soon, Love you!!

Elder Lambson :)

July 22, 2014

Thank you so much for the packages!! They both got here on Monday - so everyone was super jealous. haha!  I shared though :) and there is still a lot left. Yesterday we had a "fiesta" we sat in our room during a little bit of free time and ate some of the chips and queso.

The CCM (mtc) is pretty awesome, I'm working out everyday and playing basketball or volley ball everyday. Hermana Mckenna and I are in the same zone so we have sacrament together. I gave the sacrament prayer on the bread this week and then she got called up to say a talk (we all have to write a talk each week and they randomly call some of us up). I forgot to tell you, last week in sacrament they called me up to give my talk, and then they also asked me to give the closing prayer  Its so cool seeing all of the Snow Canyon kids here,  I always talk to Elder Moore and Elder Hillstead, and there are a few others here as well.  Are you remembering to feed Hingle McringleBerry? (my snake)?
Love you,
